THE BRITISH SCHOOL OF NEON - Prospectus The School is situated in a purpose built department at the main works of MASONLITE LIMITED. Training is given in a School that has wide experience in successfully training neon benders/pumpers from a multitude of countries around the world. In addition, a series of training videos has been produced, based on the major topics covered in the courses. These enable students to obtain information on an individual basis, either in the lecture room or at the work bench. Also available to the student is the full technical expertise and back-up associated with the "Masonlite" organisation, covering all aspects and components of a world leader in neon sign supplies. The student may choose to be trained in either lead glass or soda glass, including the use of clear, pre-coated and coloured tubing. Training in the use of borosilicate (hard) glass is not available. The actual duration of courses depends upon the ability of each individual student to meet the standard set. The maximum duration is stated to give an indication of the length of course that should be planned for. If a student completes the course in less than the maximum duration, the student can have further and wider practice of general bending or return to his employer earlier than anticipated. (A maximum duration is stated for courses separately). The prime requirements for the student apart from the obvious practical aptitude and manual dexterity are patience, perseverance, diligence, a positive attitude and the ability to understand English. The British School of Neon is famous all over the world and draws students from Europe, America, Africa, Australia and the Far East. After the first few weeks, it should become clear whether or not the student is able to complete the training successfully to our standards within the maximum duration and we reserve the right to cancel the balance of any course undertaken if, in our opinion, the student is likely to be unsuitable for this type of work. However, the failure rate is very low. Having decided on the course you wish to undertake, please contact us prior to returning the Application Form for details of the next available commencement date. Accommodation costs range from 100 per week for a bedsit, where a student looks after themselves to 150 per week for accommodation and meals with a family. A list of accommodation, with contact details, is available on request.
